[Risk No. 55] Target with David (again). He had received the last bit of Christmas money from his uber-sweet Aunt. We checked out and Laney was our cashier. I wrestled with asking her how I could pray for her. God helped. She took a long while to think about it. I made small talk about how offering to pray for anybody and everybody should be a normal question but seems quite rare. I could tell she was deep in thought. Finally, she said, "please pray for my sister and brother-in-law. They're going to have a little baby, Sarah." I watched as her eyes turned red and filled with tears - all because she was treated with honor and care. Such a small risk for such a great reward. Jesus, we do pray for Laney's sister and brother-in-law. Bless their marriage! Bless the pregnancy and birthing process and help them to raise their child in the ways of the Lord.
Failed risk: I had been feeling a little pain in my right knee and wondered whether it was the Lord giving me a hint about someone else in pain. A man walked by with his teenage son. I noticed a leg brace on his right knee. They were walking fairly quickly by and David and I were headed to check out. I just kept walking. Lord, help me to be quicker on my feet.
